One of the primary duties of a pastor is to nourish the flock in the Word of God. This is done by various means but the sermon is an important element in a Christian's life. A sermon is designed to be encouraging, guiding and enlightening. A sermon may contain many elements: be allegorical, draw an analogy, provide humor, provide counsel, explain prophecy, or guide the steps of a maturing Christian. Wrapping these elements into a meaningful message requires skill in the Word Of God, practical experience and a dedication to the congregation. Each week, the congregation learns more of the Way of God.
